I did like the parts of the book focusing on DCI Pirie's investigation, interviews, theories, but then the book would change POV and not all of them I connected with. I correctly assumed that McDermid wasn't going to cheat by making the murderer someone who's only introduced in the last five pages, so the possible suspect list was very short indeed.
