KEF made a remarkable decision a year ago to collaborate with industrial designer Ross Lovegrove, who has gone on to shape many aspects of the company’s product range, including its latest model, the KEF Mu7 Wireless Headphones. Their sound is clear and unexcited up to medium volumes, and the right atmosphere only comes about when you let them get loud. Provided you achieve a good seal, the level of passive noise isolation on offer is decent. While finding them pretty comfortable for a brief stroll, we are a little less convinced of their comfort during longer listening sessions. The Sony WF-1000XM3 are a slightly bulkier design but feel much less intrusive, as do the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds. turbohobbit said:I agree. I've have the KEFs for about 6 weeks now and they're grand. Sure they aren't the bassiest headphones out there but they are top notch for proper unadulterated sound replication - exactly what you'd expect from a speaker maker. To be fair, I do run them through an iFI Go Blu DAC for a little extra volume and filtering but that's my choice - you certainly don't have to. What this is all about and how the KEF Mu7 Wireless Headphones actually perform in practice is what we want to find out with a detailed test. KEF has been in the headphone business for years

I have them connected to two of my Apple devices via BT with no issues. You’ll have to manually toggle the BT connection on each device if you want to switch devices as you can only connect to two devices at a time.Given most other headphones companies love to bundle in an app, it's a strange choice but I didn't really miss this functionality that much. The KEF Mu7 Wireless Headphones score a big plus point for their sound, which is extremely well-balanced and rich in detail, but, compared to many others in this class, a little restrained. However, this is an immense advantage, because it ensures relaxed music listening even over many hours, the ear is not unduly stressed. For pumping bass lines, you should probably look elsewhere; with the KEF Mu7 Wireless Headphones, music should rather be presented in an unadulterated and precise way, and it is precisely this promise of the English specialist that the headphones can keep with flying colours. Of course, Bluetooth is used for signal transmission, namely a Bluetooth module from Qualcomm that complies with Bluetooth 5.1 and, among other things, also offers the codec aptX HD for signal transmission with up to 24 bits and 48 kHz. Of course, this requires that the source device also has the corresponding capabilities. Alternatively, the lossy codecs SBC and AAC are also available.

We have already described the design as extremely successful, but we would like to emphasise this again here. It’s clear that KEF’s Mu7 Wireless Headphones are aimed at a target group that prefers elegance and wants a stylish daily companion.

How does the KEF Mu3 sound?

The haunting piano of The Beatles' Now And Then enveloped me, while the crunching guitars of Bombay Bicycle Club's I Want To Be Your Only Pet were at the forefront throughout. So it's only logical that I didn't hesitate when the company announced the Mu7, over-ear headphones with active noise cancellation.
